Steel Shed Cladding

If you’ve just started looking at sheds, one of the first questions is what they’re made of and how everything fits together.

This image shows the main external components of a steel shed and labels what each part is. It gives you a clear overview of how the outside of the building comes together once constructed.

From cladding and flashings through to doors, gutters, and foundations, understanding these components makes it easier to compare sheds and know what you’re actually getting.

It’s a real good shed on the outside.

Shed cladding is commonly around 0.4mm base metal thickness for quality steel cladding. Thicker materials generally provide better strength and durability, while thinner cladding may be more prone to damage.

Durability is affected by material quality, thickness, protective coatings, and the environment where the shed is located. Factors such as coastal exposure, weather conditions, and proper installation also play a major role in how long the cladding lasts.
