Barns NZ – American, Heratage & Custom Barns
Wide Selection of NZ Barns
Searching for quality barns in NZ? We supply a wide range of barns nationwide, including American barns, Quaker barns and Kiwi barns. Whether you need extra space for storage, a workshop, accommodation or general rural use, our barns can be designed to suit the way you intend to use the building.
Choosing the Right Barn
The right barn style depends on your budget, the look you want and how you plan to use the building. American barns provide extra height and central space, making them well suited to storage, workshops and accommodation. Kiwi barns offer an economical way to add useful floor space, with one or two side wings that can be varied in width to create different layouts and looks. Quaker barns provide the opportunity for substantial upstairs floor space, while house barns combine rural accommodation with the appearance of a shed.

NZ-Made Barns Built for New Zealand Conditions
Our team designs buildings that are built to last, using 100% NZ products and materials.
Each building is engineered for its exact location and built to handle New Zealand’s conditions, including wind zones, snow loads, earthquake requirements, and ground conditions.
We can help you choose the perfect barn to suit your lifestyle and budget.
Strong, Practical and Cost-Effective
Our barns are designed to give you useful floor space without making the building unnecessarily complicated or expensive. Each one is custom designed around the way you intend to use it, from machinery and vehicle storage to workshops, farm use and general storage.
The barn shape gives you a practical combination of wide usable areas, good internal height and plenty of flexibility for doors, windows and other features. With the right layout, a barn can make excellent use of the available site while still looking like a building that belongs on the property.
Designed Around How You’ll Use It
There is no point paying for space or features you don’t need. We can work with you to get the proportions, access and layout right for the job, whether that means large vehicle openings, enclosed storage, a workshop area, covered space or a combination of different uses. Getting these decisions right at the design stage can make a big difference to how useful the finished building is.
While most barn styles cost more than a standard gable shed, a well-designed Kiwi barn can be a cost-effective way to create considerably more usable space. Careful planning of the size, layout and features can give you a building that looks smart, works well and provides room for how you use the property now and in the future.
Choosing the Right Barn
Picking the right style comes down to three things: how you plan to use it, the look you’re after, and your budget.

American barns are more expensive for several reasons. The structure is more complex, requiring more engineering and additional components such as brackets, bolts, and fixings. They also have more external components. For example, a standard gable shed has two gutters, while an American barn has four. There are more soft edge flashings, all of which add to the overall cost. These extra materials and design requirements add up quickly, making American barns more expensive than simpler shed styles.
Pricing depends on the design, size, and intended use. Because most barns are custom built, and there can be significant price differences between styles, costs can vary considerably. Get in touch for a ballpark price to get started.
