Building quality kitset sheds since 2004

Premium Quality Shed Components

The components used in a shed play a big part in how well it performs over time. We use proven materials for both cladding and framing, manufactured by New Zealand Steel and roll formed at Steel & Tube branches across the country.

Steel & Tube have been roll forming roofing products for decades, and their systems have continued to improve. They produce strong, reliable purlin materials and well-designed cladding profiles suited to New Zealand conditions.

The quality of these components is what separates a well-built shed from one that looks similar but isn’t built to the same standard.

Built with Quality Components

The brackets we use are grade G450 steel with a heavy Z450 galvanised coating. They are laser cut and CNC folded to produce accurate, consistent components that fit properly on site.

Flashings and barges are designed for strength, practicality, and appearance. They are folded using computer-controlled machinery for clean, precise lines, with crush folds that improve both strength and finish.

All bolts and screws are supplied by Konnect, leaders in fixing products. We use their tek screws because they are consistently sharp and the painted screws have a durable, high-quality coating.

Cheaper alternatives often suffer paint damage during installation, which can lead to early deterioration. Using quality fixings helps ensure the building performs as expected over time.

Structural System and Design

Our sheds use bolted steel portal frame construction, allowing wide span buildings up to 25 metres, with eave heights ranging from 2.4m to 6.0m.

Dimensions are designed in increments that align with cladding profiles. This reduces material waste and ensures a clean, well-proportioned finish.

We use cast-in base plates or heavy angle brackets to secure the building to the foundation. Combined with our bolted two-piece knee bracket system that fully encloses the joint, this removes the need for intrusive knee braces under rafters, keeping the internal space clear and usable.

An apex brace is used to lock both rafters together, forming a strong and stable structural unit.

All structural components are made from New Zealand Steel galvanised products, with genuine Colorsteel cladding supplied and distributed through Steel & Tube.

Flashings are designed for both strength and finish, with most incorporating crush folds for added rigidity and a cleaner look. Wet components such as gutters and flashings are made from Colorsteel Maxam for durability.

We also use high-quality finishing components such as Flashguard soft edge flashings, which conform properly to roofing profiles and provide improved weather protection compared to cheaper alternatives.

The result is a shed system that is simple to build, structurally sound, and designed to perform in New Zealand conditions.
